Qatar is a small country located on the Arabian Peninsula on the coast of the Persian Gulf. The size of the territory of the state is only 11 thousand km². However, thanks to its huge hydrocarbon reserves, Qatar currently ranks first in the list of countries in terms of per capita national income. The country is an absolute monarchy headed by an emir. The power of the Qatari ruler is not limited by anything except the norms of Islamic Sharia. At the same time, the emirate of Qatar is considered one of the most “open” Muslim societies, second only to the neighboring United Arab Emirates in this respect.
In recent decades, the government of the country has paid considerable attention to the development of tourism: modern shopping and entertainment centers, restaurants are opening here, beaches are being equipped, and luxurious hotels are growing. There is something to see in Qatar and a connoisseur of oriental exoticism. There are very interesting sights with a national flavor here: ancient fortresses, noisy oriental bazaars, beautiful mosques, museum expositions dedicated to the art, culture and history of the country.
