Many people know Turkey only for beach holidays and the all inclusive system. But in fact, dozens and hundreds of monuments of ancient civilizations have been collected on the territory of modern Turkey. Before the creation of the Ottoman Empire, the Hittites, Greeks, Persians, Macedonians, Romans and Byzantines walked through these lands. All these peoples left behind majestic monuments of architecture. And there is no better place to get to know them than to come to Turkey.
It is noteworthy that one of the most tragic stories of antiquity played out here – the siege and capture of Troy. Once upon a time, scientists believed that all the stories about these events were just a myth, but today archaeological traces of the ancient city have been found and the authenticity of the story of Homer is beyond doubt.
