Jordan is a small kingdom in the Middle East, neighboring Israel, Saudi Arabia and Syria. Despite its size, this country boasts a wide variety of natural areas – travelers can see the Red Sea coastline, the desert that goes beyond the horizon, valleys and hills covered with tropical vegetation. For the first time, the territory of Jordan was inhabited by people back in the Stone Age, and since then it has experienced many turbulent historical events. These lands remember the times described in the Old Testament, the dominion of ancient Egypt, Persia, Rome, Byzantium, the invasion of the Arabs led by the Prophet Muhammad and the expansion of the Crusaders. As described in the Bible, it was here, on the banks of the Jordan River, that Jesus was baptized and preached the word of God to the locals.
