Vietnam is the largest country in Indochina, which has an ancient history and a rich original culture. Today Vietnam is a dynamically developing agro-industrial country, attracting more than 15 million foreign tourists annually. This popularity is facilitated by the magnificent tropical nature with a lot of beautiful places, the vast sea coast with wonderful beaches, architectural and sights of amazing beauty. The first states on this territory appeared as early as the 1st millennium BC. For thousands of years, Vietnam has been subjected to numerous invasions by aggressive neighbors – China, the Mongol Empire, the Khmer state. But every time the Vietnamese people managed to free themselves from foreign domination and regain their independence.
At the end of the XIX century. the country underwent French colonial expansion, turning into a colony of this European power. In 1940, the French were replaced by the Japanese, and after the Second World War, the Vietnamese launched a large-scale struggle against the returning colonialists. As a result, the previously united country was divided into two parts – the socialist north and the capitalist south. The Vietnamese managed to recreate a unified state only in 1975, having gone through almost 20 years of civil war hell, in which US troops took an active part. All these historical conflicts have left a mark on the modern face of Vietnam, in its culture and architecture. Let us analyze in more detail what to see in this amazing country from the sights of a foreign tourist arriving here.
